All Your Questions About The Hydrafacial, Answered

This facial is mega-popular for a reason.

January 17, 2022

Do you ever catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and wonder, “whoa, what happened?!” It could be that you know exactly what happened–a wild night out, cold or dry weather, or sleep deprivation. Suddenly, your skin looks dull, dry, uneven. You’re getting breakouts. Your pores look huge. Or it could be that you’re taking good care of yourself, but your skincare products aren’t providing potent enough results. The great news is, there’s a facial that can address all those concerns! Seriously! In the time it takes to watch an episode of your favorite Netflix series, you can get glowing, clear, moisturized skin with the Hydrafacial. Intrigued? We thought so. That’s why we’ve put together this blog post, to answer all your Hydrafacial questions.

What is the Hydrafacial and how does it work?

The Hydrafacial comes in a 30 minute express or 60 minute deluxe facial that uses patented vortex-fusion technology to both extract dirt and impurities from your skin, while also delivering hydrating serums. ‘Vortex fusion’ sounds intimidating, but it’s a totally painless process with three steps. In step 1, your facialist will gently exfoliate your skin. In step 2, they’ll use the vortex-fusion technology (think: tiny, fancy vacuum) to painlessly extract all the dirt and impurities that have no business being on your face, and then follow it up with a hydrating serum. Finally, step 3 saturates the skin’s surface with peptides and antioxidants, two of the most glow-boosting ingredients out there. This treatment seriously delivers on glow. By the end of your treatment, you’ll be looking radiant, dewy, and evened-out. Like an Instagram filter, but real.

You can also add-on additional treatments like lymphatic drainage massage, or what Hydrafacial calls ‘boosters.’ They just added a booster called Epicutis, a treatment that revitalizes the skin on your neck. You can even add a ‘scalp facial’ for the skin on your scalp! So the Hydrafacial can be tailored to your unique skincare concerns.

Is there any downtime after the Hydrafacial?

No! There’s no downtime and the only side effect you may experience is temporary redness at extraction sites, but this subsides within hours. You should avoid direct sun exposure just after your treatment. Your treatment provider will provide more detailed instructions regarding sun exposure.

What concerns does the Hydrafacial address?

Tbh, it addresses most things that might be bothering you about your face, including:

Uneven skin tone

Uneven skin texture

Oily skin

Breakouts

Enlarged pores

Fine lines and wrinkles

Elasticity and firmness

Brown spots

It’s a perfect option if you’ve got a special event coming up soon and want clearer, brighter, more glowing skin. But we primarily love it for year-round skin maintenance.

How often should I get a Hydrafacial? How long do the results last?

We recommend getting a Hydrafacial on a monthly or quarterly basis for best results. The supercharged glow lasts 5-7 days, and the evened out skin tone and reduced pore size last about a month on average. Just like with other forms of self-care–dieting, exercise, etc–the more consistent you are with your routine, the more impressive the results will be.

Who can get the Hydrafacial?

Basically anyone can get the Hydrafacial–it’s customizable for a variety of concerns, but even the original, no-frills Hydrafacial is suitable for all skin types and ages. Your treatment provider can adjust the strength of the exfoliation and extraction to accommodate sensitivity. If you have an inflammatory skin condition like rosacea or severe acne, you should check with your dermatologist to see if the treatment is suitable. Otherwise there are virtually no contraindications.

Where can I get a Hydrafacial?

Since the Hydrafacial involves vortex-fusion technology, it requires a trained, educated professional. Fortunately, you can book a Hydrafacial through the Upkeep app–we carefully select our medspa facilities, so you can be confident you’re in good hands. Plus, you can book your appointment on-demand, pay in the app, and earn rewards points that can be applied to future treatments! We make taking care of yourself super easy and convenient–because you deserve to look and feel your absolute best.

It’s time to say goodbye to dull, uneven, tired skin and hello to the glow! Book a Hydrafacial in the Upkeep app today!
