Why No Other Hair Removal Method Is As Good As Laser

Yeah, it's a hot take. But we're prepared to defend it.

October 6, 2022

We’re just going to come right out and say it:

Body hair removal is annoying.

You know it, we know it, everyone knows it. In this day and age, plenty of women prefer not to remove their body hair. Equally, there are still a lot of women out there who truly prefer the look and feel of removing body hair. They would want to do it even if society, their workplace, or the significant other did not care.

We support everyone’s right to choose what feels best for them. There’s nothing wrong with body hair; it’s simply a matter of preference. Any societal pressure that tells us there’s only one “right” way for women to present themselves? You can miss us with that.

If you’re anti-removal, we love it. Embrace being au naturel, and don’t let anyone shame you for it. And if you’re in the pro-removal camp, chances are you’ve tried a few different methods. TBH you’ve probably found things to hate about all of them. (Remember above: hair removal is annoying). The truth is, there’s one method that’s much better than the rest: laser. Don’t believe it? Let us persuade you. Here’s why laser hair removal is the best hair removal method. Period.

Removes hair from anywhere on the body: This is one of its biggest benefits. There are some areas of the body where you can’t easily reach with a razor, or where you can’t really see what you’re doing (like the bikini area). Laser hair removal works anywhere: on your arms, legs, bikini line, and even on your face for mustache hairs.

Less painful than other hair removal methods: We’re not going to front. Laser hair removal hurts a little. But compared to epilators or waxing, it’s actually not so bad. And it’s largely permanent, so you don’t have to endure the pain every six weeks for the rest of your life like with waxing. With laser, the pain is worth it because the results really last. We’ll take yearly maintenance treatments over the daily, weekly, or monthly schedules of the alternatives.

No more cuts and scars: Have you ever cut yourself while shaving and watched with horror as a seemingly endless stream of blood runs down your leg? And then it stains your super cute new bath mat from West Elm because it still hasn’t stopped bleeding several minutes later??! Us too. And you’ve probably had both cuts and ingrown hairs that have left scars. We just don’t think anything that scars your skin is worth the trouble. Laser hair removal means you don’t have to engage in hair removal methods that cause scarring, whether from cuts or ingrown hairs.

No more enduring the Waxing Cycle of Hell: Is there anything worse than the endless cycle of waxing? You have to wait for your hair to grow out, and during that phase you might not want to show skin. Then you have to pay someone to rip your hair out by the root (painful and awkward). Your skin is inflamed and sore directly after the procedure. Sure, it looks great for a few weeks, but then that whole cycle begins anew. Regrowth is itchy, especially in sensitive areas. And let’s not forget the perpetual scourge of ingrown hairs.

With laser, you don’t have to wait for regrowth or apply special salves to fix your ingrowns. You don’t have to endure ritualistic pain every six weeks. You can literally just enjoy being hair-free, all of the time.

No more irritation: Every other common hair removal method causes short-term irritation. Even if your freshly shaved skin looks smooth and soft, what you can’t see are all the tiny little micro-cuts the razor adds to your skin! And those cuts are one reason why your skin might feel irritated or dry when you get out of the shower. With laser hair removal, your skin is rescued from the constant cycle of irritation. This leaves it softer and smoother overall. (Maybe TMI but this is super important for the sensitive bikini area.)

Saves time: This is to us the single biggest benefit of laser hair removal: once you complete a course of treatment, you get to save so much time compared to shaving (daily) or waxing (monthly). You might need annual maintenance treatments, but that’s it. With laser, you get all that time back to do other things.

Ok, we’re stepping off our soapbox now. Have we convinced you that laser hair removal is the best? We hope so, because we made an app for booking laser hair removal and other MedSpa services. It’s called Upkeep, and it makes the process of booking and paying for your MedSpa treatments seamless and stress-free. Plus we carefully hand-select each provider so you know you’re going to get the best possible results. Download it today to ditch the razor and get laser!
