Answering All Your Morpheus8 Questions
May 15, 2023
What is it about Morpheus8? Is it the funny name–which is an homage to the character in The Matrix movie? The internet hype? The amazing before-and-after photos? We don’t know what it is, but few skin treatments out there generate as many questions as this one. So we’re back with a blog that answers your Morpheus8 questions. This is a supplement to our Morpheus8 treatment guide, which you can read here.
Morpheus8: what does it do?
Morpheus8 combines radiofrequency with microneedling in one treatment applicator. Both of these treatments separately are able to firm and tighten skin, but when used together, they become even more powerful!
Morpheus8 can be customized to your unique needs because there are multiple microneedle lengths. Shorter needles address more surface-level concerns, while the longest needles penetrate deep enough to sculpt and melt the fat underneath your skin. It can be used on the face and the body. Here are the benefits of Morpheus8:
- Increases collagen production, leading to plumper, firmer skin
- Lifts and tightens skin that has grown loose because of age or weight loss
- Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Treats acne scarring
- Diminishes the appearance of stretch marks
What is Morpheus8 good for?
Morpheus8 is a super versatile treatment. It addresses the following skin problems:
- Acne scarring
- Sun damage
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Enlarged pores
- Stretch marks
- Poor skin texture
Are morpheus8 results immediate?
Results can appear in as little as two to three days–but they’ll continue to get more noticeable as the weeks go by. This is because it takes time for your body to respond to the treatment by ramping up collagen production. Morpheus8 results are also long-lasting–expect tighter, firmer, smoother skin for up to a year on average.
Can Morpheus8 replace Botox?
While Morpheus8 reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it doesn’t work as effectively to treat wrinkles specifically as Botox does. This is because Botox paralyzes the muscles that cause wrinkles around the eyes and on the forehead. Morpheus8 and Botox can be used together for all-over skin improvement. Morpheus8 works on the skin itself and not the muscles, so the treatments can be combined. You will have to wait a minimum of 14 days after Botox to get Morpheus8, though, and some providers prefer to wait even longer, up to a month, before doing Morpheus8. So be sure to keep your treatment provider in the loop about your most recent round of Botox injections.
Will Morpheus8 dissolve filler?
Yes! This is an important contraindication to be aware of. Morpheus8 will dissolve dermal fillers like Restylane or Juvederm, so get fillers after a course of Morpheus8 treatment, not before. Other contraindications include metal dental implants or retainers, and blood thinners and Accutane–you must be off both medication types for at least six months.
Is Morpheus8 FDA approved?
Yes! Morpheus8 is FDA approved to treat both the face and body. Morpheus8 for Body was FDA approved in 2020.
Is Morpheus8 good for cellulite?
Yes, Morpheus8 can be a good option for reducing the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite is the result of fat deposits pulling on connective tissue, which creates a dimpled look. It’s super common–approximately 90% of women over the age of 20 have a little bit of cellulite, regardless of body size. But it does tend to get more pronounced with age as collagen production declines. By tightening the skin and sculpting the fat, Morpheus8 can help reduce the look of cellulite on the backs of the thighs and other areas, too.
Morpheus8 vs Sculptra: how are they different?
Sculptra is a filler, but it’s not the same as other dermal fillers, which are hyaluronic-acid based. Sculptra is an injectable form of poly-L-lactic acid, a substance used in dissolvable sutures. It works differently than other fillers, because it stimulates collagen production–which results in plumper skin that your body creates naturally.
Sculptra is a great option for restoring volume over time, but it won’t help with surface-level concerns like skin texture or acne scarring as effectively as Morpheus8.
